Power of i Webcast Series

Alison is the Application Development Offerings Manager, working on the Power Systems Software Team. She works with a variety of teams to develop strategic direction and offerings for developers on AIX, i and Linux on Power.

Having worked in the mid-range area for more than 25 years, Alison has held a wide variety of positions atIBM, primarily with midrange servers and software. She has held a range of positions including field Systems Engineer, an instructor in Customer Technical Education, national support representative forIBMCanada, and Worldwide Technical Marketing support rep for the development tools and compilers from theIBMToronto Laboratory.

Alison is a regular speaker at user group events, technical conferences, COMMON events andIBMcustomers in many countries around the world.

Mike Pavlak has been working with IBM midrange solutions since 1992 and IBM Mainframes before that.  After years of developing applications using RPG, CL and PHP he managed IT development and IT for power protection manufacturer Tripp Lite. Recently, Mike has joined Zend as a Solutions Consultant working with the i5 sales team and spreading the news about Zend solutions in the IBM midrange arena.  Mike lives in suburban Chicago with his wife, five kids, a dog, three cats, a leopard spotted gecko, Russian tortoise, two rabbits, half a dozen fish and dwarf hamster.

Susan is half of Partner400, a consulting company focused on education on modern programming and database techniques and tools on the IBM i platform. She is also a founding partner in System i Developer , a consortium of System i educators and hosts of the RPG & DB2 Summit conferences.

Susan was a programmer for corporations in Atlanta, Georgia, before joining IBM. During her IBM career, she worked in both the Rochesterand Torontolabs, providing technical support and education for application developers.  Susan left IBM in 1999 to devote more time to teaching and consulting. Together with Jon Paris, she now runs Partner400, and appears regularly at many technical conferences, including System i Developer’s RPG & DB2 Summit.

Doug Mack is a DB2 and Business Intelligence Offerings Manager in IBM's Power Systems Marketing organization.  Doug's thirty year career with IBM spans many roles, including System/38 and AS/400 microcode development, AS/400 Systems Engineer, and Data Warehouse Specialist on the iSeries  Worldwide Executive Sales team.

Doug is a featured speaker at User Group conferences and meetings, IBM Technical conferences, and Executive Briefings.


Steve Will is the Chief Architect for the IBM i Operating System. Steve joined IBM inRochester,Minnesotain January 1985 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science fromLutherCollege, and his Masters Degree in Computer Science fromPurdueUniversity. Steve has worked as a software programmer, designer and architect at all operating system levels, from the communication between processors to integrated security to web programming enablement. In his role as Chief Architect, he is responsible for the strategy and plan for IBM i, a Power Systems operating system used by hundreds of thousands of enterprises world wide. He is a frequent speaker at customer events, collects requirements from customer advisory groups, and works with professionals both inside and outside IBM on future technology.

Pete Massiello has been working with the AS/400, iSeries, i5, IBM i since 1989, focusing on systems management and technical support. He has held numerous technical positions through out his career. He is the President of iTech Solutions Group, an IBM Advanced Business Partner delivering solutions and services to IBM i shops throughout theUS. He is a member of  IBM’s certification test writing team, an IBM Certified Systems Expert with certifications in iSeries Design, Administration, Implementation, LPAR, and HMC management.  Pete has a BS in Computer Science fromHofstraUniversity, and an MBA from theUniversityofNew Haven. He is President of COMMON, a COMMON Hall of Fame speaker, and a frequent speaker at user groups all over the world.

Mark Olson is an executive world-wide product manager for Power Systems. He is primarily focused on future product line enhancements which will be introduced over the next few months and/or years, especially the introduction of new hardware products and hardware enhancements. Mark has been located in Rochester, Minnesota, USA and associated with the System i (iSeries & AS/400) for twenty years. He is now part of the small, core product marketing and product development team who guides the Power Systems product line which covers the combined System p and System i product sets. Mark has been a frequent speaker at announcement events providing hardware insights and education.
