What’s new in asymptomatic carotid stenosis?
Asymptomatic carotid stenosis (ACS) is a frequently encountered clinical problem. The best approach for treating ACS varies among individual patients but includes high intensity medical therapy, carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting. New trials are underway to compare these modalities.
In this lecture, Dr. Chaturvedi will
1) review the epidemiology of asymptomatic carotid stenosis (ACS).
2) identify potential risk stratification tools for patients with ACS.
3) review evidence that medical and surgical treatment is improving the prognosis for patients with ACS.
4) discuss new clinical trials addressing management of ACS.
