Researchers have been touting the virtues of 3D cell culture over traditional 2D culture for years. But what are the differences between cells grown in 2D and 3D, and how do these differences impact your experiments? In this webinar, three experts describe their experiences developing and using the RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System for different applications. The speakers will highlight key differences between 2D and 3D cell culture systems when analyzing cellular properties and functions. They will also describe strategies for the best use of the RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System in the lab.

Speakers:

 

 

Brad Larson, BioTek Instruments. Brad Larson is a Principal Scientist at BioTek Instruments with expertise in preclinical small molecule drug discovery. He has a keen interest in developing assays where cellular responses to drugs can be more effectively simulated. Larson will talk about efforts to perform tumor killing assays using RAFT™ 3D Cultures of cancer cells.

 

Tarig Magdeldin, Weill Cornell Medical College.  Dr. Tarig Magdeldin is a Postdoctoral Associate in Neuroscience at the Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medical College.  He obtained his Ph.D. at University College London studying 3D in vitro cancer models.  For his talk, Tarig will discuss the development of a physiologically relevant 3D colorectal cancer model using the RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System.

 

Jenny Schroeder, Lonza Cologne GmbH. Dr Jenny Schroeder is Senior Scientist at Lonza and leads research teams based in Cologne (Germany) and Hyderabad (India) that are developing innovative research tools for applied bioresearch and drug discovery. She has a strong interest in more physiological cell culture systems and has taken a leading role in application development for the RAFT™ 3D Culture System. In her presentation, Jenny will introduce the RAFT™ System and discuss how standard cell biological analysis methods can be adapted to advanced cell culture models.
